Another year, another mask. Iv'e made 2 masks before, a Deadmau5 mask and a Pycho mask. Both of them were extremely structured and required many tools. I wanted to try something different this year.

After looking up lots of Scarecrow masks, I decided to take a crack at it. I bought a role of burlap, a model head, and a threading kit with a burlap/straw twine. I followed the video instructions and free-styled threading strips together along the contours of the model head. I then put extra stitches on the top and around the neck so it could hold its shape.

People had some crazy reactions! I wore jeans and a light vest so I resembled a minimal slasher. Random pedestrians would stop and go out of their way to tell me how cool or scary the mask is. Since the burlap isn't thick, I didn't need to cut eye slits. This gave it a haunting effect. I was blown away and humbled by people's complements.

Who knows what I'll do next year :P
